Political Lies Don't Matter

A fascinating, if not somewhat depressing, piece regarding the effectiveness of outright lies on the campaign trail. Incredible. Explains a lot though....Enjoy. Beckmania.

Wow, I thought that article was a bunch of crap and the irony was hilarious. It started out nearly objective and turned into a misleading, overdone slander against McCain. And to see the Obama-sponsored ads "Help elect Obama to President" on every page of the article didn't help convince me of anything. In fact, I probably discount it more!

That said, the research was very interesting - how voters don't change opinions after lies are uncovered. That helps me understand why people think the lying-under-oath-Clinton is still such a hero. Craziness.

True enough - The New Republic isn't exactly unbiased, and I should have noticed that and mentioned it....the things you learn blogging! I think the unfortunate take away is that, well, lies are part of politics, and both sides do it shamelessly. Sigh.

I think www.factcheck.org is a great place for understanding the lies....er....well, the "stretched truths." :-)
